Happy Valentine's Day, Footbuddies everywhere! And my valentine to you is the true story of what really happened centuries ago.

Valentine was a lovely lad
in a land across the sea.
He was not too good. He was not too bad.
He was kinda like you and me.

One day he stretched out with his head in the grass
and his toes pointed up to the sky.
He suddenly felt a strange joy in his ass.
I think you and I know why.

Our innocent sweet little Valentine
was raped by a Roman centurion.
But it isn't your job, nor is it mine
to be a-judgin' and juryin'.

Beastly rape, straight or gay, sometimes happens this way
when two languages aren't comprehended.
But when push came to shove both our boys fell in love,
so our story quite happily ended.

The Roman took Val for his permanent pal
and though scoffers greet this with laughter.
the truth is they led a delightful life
and lived happily ever after.

May all of the toes that tickle our nose
bring us Valentine joys and treasure!
May Val's day still say how to turn roughhouse play
from a pain in the ass into pleasure!

Much better than "There once was a man from Nantucket...."

Thanks, guys! You're the best! If only the National Slobbovian Poetry Association felt the same way!
